Late last year I photographed a friend of mine and her husband with their gorgeous motorbikes. Slightly atypical of the style of portrait I'm used to working with, but damn we had fun. These two have some serious machinery that they enjoy each weekend. I got to explore our location on the back of one of these beautiful bikes and I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. I'm even on record as going home and telling my husband he has my blessing should he ever want to buy a motorbike, I've always been a sucker for outdoor adventure :) We had a great shoot, despite the afternoon light. Not a lot of places to shade two big motorbikes so we made the most of it. We had already scouted our final destination, a sunset shot in-between two bridges. Put up a 69" parabolic umbrella to light them both and we fired off shots as the sun started setting. The BTS pic below shows our very simple setup.
It was the first time my brand new Godox LP 800x portable battery pack went on location and it did not disappoint. I had lit a sequence of riding shots mid afternoon and I was a little anxious about conserving enough power for the sunset shot. In the end there was more than enough juice. Very happy with this piece of kit, although still early days.
We wrapped up the shoot a little tired but on a high. Can't beat being out by the water photographing great people with their mega cool motor bikes with the setting sun in the background. What a great day.
