So it's Week 5 and this week's concept was low key. Low key screamed figure study to me. The only problem of course is not having a figure on a Sunday afternoon to study. Determined to maintain my momentum in this 52 Week Challenge I moved ahead with my trusty tripod and the timer function. In hindsight I wish I had lined up a model for this one, because low key lighting is a style I'm really passionate about. Obviously it's a tad more challenging to when you're not actively composing and lighting from the benefit of staring down the viewfinder. Add to that a 10 second window and it becomes a workout more than a photoshoot ;-)
This one was all done and dusted in about half an hour to forty five minutes. With my beauty dish still missing in action I turned to my 90 x 110cm softbox to light the scene. I used the hood and grid to control the spill and focus the light and then it was a case of trial, sprint and error.
Regardless a great way to spend Sunday afternoon. Next week's challenge is light and texture. I have a house full of teenagers next weekend, so happy days.
